The Citizens will have to lock horns with their city rivals without a key defender.

Jonh Stones will miss Manchester City’s upcoming derby against Manchester United with a hamstring injury.

The City centre-back picked up a knock during England’s 3-3 draw against Germany on Monday.

The hamstring issue will most likely keep Stones out of action for around two weeks.

“He will be back when he will be ready,” he told a press conference ahead of City’s upcoming clash against Man Utd.

He added: “I think it will not be four, five, six weeks, it will be less. I don’t know when he will come back but I think maybe 10 days, two weeks.”

The current return date for Stones means he misses City’s upcoming three games, including two UCL clashes against Copenhagen.

However, City have welcomed Aymeric Laporte back to training. Guardiola confirms the Spain international has completed his rehab process during the international break.

“Training really well,” his manager said. “Training alone because everyone was with national teams, but yesterday and today he feels good.”

City prepare to face an in-form Man United, who have successfully bounced back from their poor start to the new campaign.

“I always expect the best,” Guardiola said. “They come with good results against tough sides, with Southampton it’s not easy but especially Liverpool and Arsenal at home, and yeah, good momentum for them.”
