The Norway international missed City’s victory against Liverpool with an injury.

Pep Guardiola has confirmed Erling Haaland is “ready” to play for Manchester City against Southampton.

A groin issue has prevented Haaland from returning to action since his side’s 6-0 victory over Burnley in the FA Cup. The Premier League top-scorer withdrew from international duty with Norway and linked up with the Citizens.

However, he wasn’t able to play for City in their 4-1 win over Liverpool on Saturday. The Norwegian star will return to his side’s matchday squad for their match against the Saints.

“He (Haaland) trained well in the last two days, so he will be ready,” Guardiola told a press conference on Friday.

Haaland’s return is a major squad boost for the Citizens ahead of their crucial match against Bayern Munich in the Champions League. “Bayern Munich is not on my thoughts,” he added.

However, Guardiola refused to answer whether he’ll give Haaland minutes before the Bayern clash.

Julian Alvarez made a brilliant display in Haaland’s absence against Liverpool. Guardiola will most likely keep the Argentine star in his starting lineup despite Haalanad’s return.

City will have three days to prepare for their home game against Bayern after facing Southampton on Saturday.
