The England international suffered a serious ankle injury earlier this month.

Pep Guardiola is not sure whether Kyle Walker can play again this season after his recent injury setback.

Walker limped off the pitch during Manchester City’s clash against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League. With City’s Premier League and UCL campaigns reach their most decisive phases, Guardiola is worried about the fitness status of one of his best defenders.

Asked whether Walker will make his return during the remaining weeks of the campaign, the Spaniard responded: “I don’t know right now.

“He’s injured – unfortunately for all of us and him especially – but I don’t pay attention.

“He has to work to come back as soon as possible. I am focused on the rest of the players.”

John Stones will also miss City’s upcoming game against Leeds United.

“For tomorrow John is out and we will see for Wednesday,” Guardiola added.

Man City are only one point above Liverpool in Premier League’s close title race. When asked about Mohamed Salah’s winning of the Football Writers’ Association Player of the Year award, Guardiola said: “Congratulations to Salah.

“Jurgen said they have the best keeper, the second-best keeper in the world, the best central defender, the best holding midfielder, the best striker. So it’s normal they win all the awards.”

This weekend could be critical in the title race as both Man City, and Liverpool face teams who are enjoying great form.

City meet Leeds, who have not lost any of their last five games. On the other hand, Liverpool will lock horns with Newcastle, who are on a four-game winning streak.
