The Norwegian striker scored in his first appearance for the Citizens.

Pep Guardiola has admitted Erling Haaland is yet to find his ‘best form’ at Manchester City despite his decent debut.

The newly-arrived striker scored for the Citizens only 12 minutes into his first appearance under Guardiola. The goal was enough to seal a 1-0 win for City over Bayern Munich in their friendly fixture in Wisconsin.

However, Guardiola believes his team’s new number nine will find his rhythm once the season starts in a few weeks.

“He scored a goal, which is important,” Guardiola told reporters.

“These type of goals in front of keeper, he’s always he’s there.

“The first minutes, he needs more rhythm and time but already he had 45 minutes which is good for him.

“We’ll see how he reacts to the niggles that he had in the previous weeks. After we come back we have long weeks to prepare every weekend game. In those two or three weeks we will get the best form.”

‘Guardiola is a bit crazy’

Man City have been mostly playing without a conventional No.9 in recent seasons. The arrival of Haaland will enable Guardiola to experiment with new formations ahead of the new season.

Asked about his experience of integrating into City’s lineup, Haaland said: “As you probably all know, I’ve been watching a lot of City games in the last years.

“They have been without a striker. So of course I’ve been seeing myself in these situations today, so I’m not surprised.

He added: “Guardiola is a bit crazy and I like that, so it’s going to be fun. It’s one week so I cannot tell too much, but I’ve been training good and I’m ready for what’s next.”
