The Citizens have two key players back to their squad before the Champions League match.

Bernardo Silva and John Stones will both travel with Manchester City for their upcoming Champions League match against RB Leipzig.

Silva picked up a knock in City’s UCL clash against Red Star Belgrade two weeks ago, while Stones has been out since his side’s Community Shield defeat against Arsenal in early August.

“They feel better, Bernardo better than John,” Pep Guardiola told reporters on Tuesday. “Both travel and we are going to decide tomorrow.”

Silva’s absence was felt in City’s back-to-back defeats against Newcastle and Wolves. The Portuguese star’s return is a major squad boost for Guardiola’s team ahead of their upcoming Premier League match against Arsenal. The treble-winners won’s have another key midfielder, Rodri, in their ranks due to suspension.

Guardiola added: “Really happy that they’re back. John couldn’t play one minute this season and Bernardo had a pre-season with the birth of his beautiful daughter and also was injured a little bit, with disruptions, which made it a little bit longer. But they’re back, which is good news for us.”

City go into their second Champions League game of the season on the back of an unexpected defeat against Wolves. Let’s see if Silva and Stones’ returns could inspire the Citizens to bounce back and make a reaction against Leipzig on Wednesday.
