The England international seems to have regained his best form after an underwhelming debut campaign at City.
Jack Grealish has expressed his excitement over Pep Guardiola’s trust in him at Manchester City.
Grealish provided an assist for Julian Alvarez‘s first-half equalizer before scoring his side’s fourth goal later on. The England international has enjoyed more playing time under Guardiola recently, establishing his place as a starter in City’s crowded attacking line.
“The manager said he’s so proud of me and that I deserve it [the standing ovation from the Etihad Stadium],” he told City’s official website.
“That’s always nice to hear that from him. I feel good at the moment, I feel the manager really believes in me, and I just feel good in myself.
“I’m playing with confidence, and feeling fit so hopefully it can continue.”
Grealish has started 18 games for Man City in the Premier League this season, registering four goals and five assists. The 27-year-old’s newly-found form comes after a difficult debut campaign that brought him under pressure last season.
As City start the final part of the season, Grealish’s form could be decisive in their trophy hunt. The injuries of Phil Foden and Erling Haaland have left the Citizens without key players ahead of their crucial Champions League tie against Bayern Munich.
