The Citizens are keen to add a new winger to their ranks this summer.
Manchester City are considering Jeremy Doku as a potential replacement for Riyad Mahrez.
The 21-year-old, known as the “Belgian Flash,” has been a subject of interest for top clubs, including a rejected bid from Aston Villa this summer.
Liverpool has also shown interest in him since 2017, with Jurgen Klopp seeing him as a potential long-term successor to Sadio Mane. The Reds, however, could face competition from Pep Guardiola’s side.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Doku is a priority target for Man City. Alongside Michael Olise from Crystal Palace, City is eyeing Doku as a potential signing to fill the void left by Mahrez.
Doku made a strong impression during his third season at Rennes, contributing with seven goals and four assists. He even earned a call-up to the Belgian national team for the World Cup.
However, injury troubles have limited his appearances, missing 41 games over the last two seasons due to various fitness issues.
Mateo Kovacic has remained as City’s only summer signing despite the likes of Mahrez and Ilkay Gundogan leaving the club. Pep Guardiola still has a host of elite wingers in his squad, but he will most likely try to maintain City’s fantastic squad depth ahead of the next campaign.
