The Belgians star scored his debut Premier League goal as City pulled off a spectacular comeback against West Ham.
Jeremy Doku has opened up on his experience of scoring his first goal for Manchester City.
The Citizens were 1-0 behind when Doku’s excellent run down the left-flank resulted in the equalizer. The Belgian winger smashed the ball into the far-left corner of the net after a quick rush inside the box.
Speaking after the game, he said of the goal: “[It meant] a lot, especially after their goal because it came off me. I wanted to do something back, something good, and I helped the team which I’m glad about.”
Doku challenged West Ham’s defence line with the constant danger of his quick runs throughout the game. The 27-year-old has revealed he was tasked to take on West Ham players on one-on-one challenges.
“I enjoyed it, a lot of 1v1’s,” he added. “The manager said to try bring a lot of players to me and it worked. I enjoyed the game vs him [Coufal]… He [Pep Guardiola] said the first game I was a little shy but now no. As he said, I was a little less shy today.”
Man City will now prepare for their first Champions League game of the season against Crvena Zvezda on Tuesday.
