The Bavarians are monitoring the market to bolster their backline ahead of the next season.

Bayern Munich are reportedly eyeing a summer move for Manchester City’s Kyle Walker.

The England international is heavily linked with a move away from City as he enters the final year of his contract. Sheffield United and West Ham were in the race to sign Walker, while an unnamed Saudi Pro League club were also keen on adding him to their squad. But the 33-year-old might have a chance to continue his football in an elite side.

According to Sky Germany, Walker is on Bayern’s list for the summer. An additional report from Sport1 claims Thomas Tuchel is the main driving force behind the move, admiring Walker’s mentality and leadership qualities.

Bayern are yet to enter negotiations with City over a transfer fee. But Walker himself is reportedly open to joining the Bundesliga champions.

A move for Walker will most likely see him compete against Noussair Mazraoui for the right-back position. The Morocco international joined Bayern from Ajax last summer.

Already frustrated by his limited playing time, Mazraoui could seek a move away from Allianz Arena with the arrival of Walker. The England international’s versatility could also be a key factor in his transfer to Bayern, where the future of Lucas Hernandez and Benjamin Pavard are unclear ahead of the next season.
