The Citizens are preparing for their first home game of the new season.
Pep Guardiola has confirmed Kalvin Phillips will not play for Manchester City against Bournemouth this weekend.
Phillips made his debut for the Citizens in their 2-0 win over West Ham last weekend. However, he won’t be a part of Guardiola’s squad for the upcoming match.
“Kalvin has some niggles and won’t be able [to play],” Guardiola confirmed (via City’s website).
Phillips joins Aymeric Laporte, who is yet to recover from his knee surgery.
Another Man City star that might miss the upcoming clash is Cole Palmer, who suffered a foot injury earlier this week.
“Cole Palmer had a knock in his feet in the last days and is a doubt for tomorrow,” the Man City boss added.
Bournemouth claimed a shock win over Aston Villa last week. Guardiola expects the newly-promoted side to put up a fight against the Citizens at Etihad.
“When they are promoted, the first few games they are so dangerous,” he added.
“They don’t feel the pressure, they still feel good from the previous season, they have nothing to lose.
“After one, two, three months all the teams have problems with injuries. Bad moments, mood in locker room – these things always happen. But in the first few games every team is there pushing to do better.”
