The Norwegian star scored five goals to help Man City reach the Champions League quarter-finals.
Sergio Aguero has praised Erling Haaland for his incredible display in Manchester City’s 7-0 win over RB Leipzig on Tuesday.
Haaland opened the scoring for Pep Guardiola’s side in the 22nd minute before doubling their lead only a minute later. The Man City superstar went on to score three more goals in the second half as City humiliated their German rivals.
The 22-year-old became the third player in history to have scored five goals in a UCL match. Guardiola subbed Haaland shortly after the hourmark but Aguero believes he could’ve scored more if he’d stayed in.
Speaking on his Twitch channel, the Man City legend said: “This crazy guy has scored five [vs RB Leipzig] … How crazy this kid is.
“Pep [Guardiola] subbed him on 63 minutes? I would’ve left him on because we don’t know, this kid could’ve scored six or seven goals!”
Haaland’s brilliant performance helped City reach the UCL quarter-finals. The competition remains as the only trophy that the Citizens have failed to claim under Guardiola, with Haaland knowing the club have signed him to shine in European games.
“ManCity won the Premier League four times out of the last five. They didn’t bring me to win the Premier League, they know how to win it,” Haaland told CBS post-match.
“So, you can read between the lines. I’m here to try help the club develop even more, to try and win the Champions League.”
