A nine-goal thriller saw City defeat in-form United at Etihad.

Manchester City defeated Manchester United 6-3 in their Premier League game on Sunday. Phil Foden and Erling Haaland both scored hat tricks in City’s wonderful attacking display.

An instant classic!

As expected, Man City started the game by quickly pushing for a breakthrough.

Only eight minutes into the game, City’s constant pressure led to Foden’s first goal of the night.

City continued their attacks despite taking the lead while United struggled to keep their city-rivals at bay through counter-pressing.

An assist from Kevin de Bruyne saw Haaland double City’s lead in the 34th minute. Haaland’s powerful header shattered United’s defence, paving the way for his second goal only three minutes later.

United couldn’t escape the pressure before halftime, conceding another one through Foden just before the whistle.
It seemed United will go into damage-control mode in the second half, trying to avoid a humiliating defeat.

However, the Red Devils looked much better as soon as the game re-started. Antony’s stunning goal in the 65th minute made it 4-1 for the hosts, but then Haaland completed his hat trick to kill United’s hopes.

The Norwegian scored his third hattrick this season as City took back control of the game. He then went on to provide an assist for Foden’s third goal, putting his side ahead 6-1.

United pushed forward for goals in the final ten minutes while City remained dangerous on the counter-attacks.

Martial scored United’s second goal from close range before further redeeming the defeat by converting a late penalty.
The 6-3 win keeps Guardiola’s men behind Arsenal at the top of the league table while United remain sixth.

The Citizens return to Champions League to host Copenhagen this Wednesday.
