A dominant display from the Citizens ended Man Utd’s four-game winning run in the Premier League.

Christian Eriksen believes Manchester United lacked enough ‘courage’ in their 6-3 defeat against Manchester City on Sunday.

Hat-tricks from Erling Haaland and Phil Foden stunned the Red Devils as they left Etihad with a bitter defeat.

“It came very heavy. I think everyone feels that it was a very bad day at the office,” the Man Utd midfielder told Sky Sports post-match.

“I think we started on the wrong foot, they had a lot of chances straight from [the start of] the game. I think we can only blame ourselves for not really coming into the game at any point.

“We missed a bit of courage to play out from the back and we let them play to their strengths, so I think the main focus after this game will be on ourselves. There’s a lot of things we need to change, a lot of things we need to do better.

“Today was far from acceptable for what we should be doing.”

Man United looked to have found their rhythm after a difficult start to the season. Having seen their four-game winning run in the league come to an end, United will return to Europa League to face Omonia on Thursday.
