The Citizens crushed Huddersfield to reach the FA Cup’s fourth round.

Manchester City defeated Huddersfield in their FA Cup match on Sunday. Kevin De Bruyne made his long-awaited comeback to inspire City’s victory.

What happened?

Despite their bright start to the game, it took City more than half an hour to break the deadlock at Etihad. Finally, Phil Foden converted a short pass from Julian Alvarez inside the box to put City ahead. Only four minutes later, Alvarez doubled City’s lead as they ended the first half being 2-0 ahead.

As expected, the second half started with substitutions and renewed Man City attacks. Two minutes before the hour-mark, an own goal from Ben Jackson increased City’s lead. Foden then completed his brace with a spectacular low shot from behind the box to make it 4-0 for the hosts.

De Bruyne, who came off the bench in the 57th minute, put the icing on the cake for City by providing an assist for his side’s fifth goal. The Belgian’s brilliant cross from the right-hand side of the box found Jeremy Doku, who smashed into the corner of the net with a half-volley.
