A sensational final day fixture saw Man City defend their league title at the Etihad Stadium.

Manchester City defeated Aston Villa 3-2 in their last Premier League game of the season on Sunday. A sensational comeback secured City’s fourth league title under Pep Guardiola.

Final day drama at Etihad! 🏆

Manchester City went into the game being one point above Liverpool on the league table. However, both title contenders found a tough start to their final-matchday games.

Wolves went 1-0 ahead against Liverpool early on while City struggled to find their feet against Villa. Matty Cash stunned the Citizens by scoring the opener for the guests in the 37th minute.

The Citizens immediately started their efforts to get back into the game, but Villa kept them at bay until the end of the first period.

City intensified the pressure on Villa’s backline as soon as the second half started. But then came Villa’s second goal of the night.

Jurgen Klopp’s side had already managed to score the equalizer when Philippe Coutinho made it 2-0 for Villa in the 69th minute.

Liverpool fans at Anfield cheered as they felt the Reds were on the verge of securing the title by beating Wolves. But, their dreams soon turned into a nightmare when City unleashed an incredible comeback.

Ilkay Gundogan got City back into the game only four minutes after Coutinho’s goal. Two minutes later, Rodri made it 2-2 for the Citizens.

Villa’s defence completely crumbled after the second goal, enabling City to find the match-winner in the 81st minute through Gundogan.

A poor clearance from Tyrone Mings saw Kevin De Bruyne send an inch-perfect assist for the German midfielder who was waiting at the far post.

Liverpool scored twice in the final ten minutes to beat Wolves 3-1, but they couldn’t prevent City from claiming the title.

Gundogan’s match-winner completed City’s brilliant season as they snatched the club’s eighth English top-flight title.
