Pep Guardiola’s men celebrate their second trophy of the season.

Manchester City defeated Manchester United 2-1 in the FA Cup final on Saturday. The Citizens edged out their city rivals with a fine attacking display at Wembley.

One step away from the treble!

The game started with Man City stunning their opponents with the fastest goal in the FA Cup final history.

Following an assist from Kevin De Bruyne, Ilkay Gundogan unleashed an unstoppable shot past David De Gea to make it 1-0 for the Premier League champions in the 13th second.

The Citizens tried to build on their rhythm and double their lead. But Man Utd found their feet in the game and pushed for the equaliser.

The Red Devils found what they were looking for when the referee awarded them a penalty in the 33rd minute. Bruno Fernandez converted the spot-kick with a cool finish to bring United back into the game.

Erik ten Hag’s side had a golden chance to complete their comeback before the break. But Raphael Varane’s volley went wide to keep the scoreline 1-1.

City started the second period as the better side, and it didn’t take long before Guardiola’s men restored their lead. Another assist from De Bruyne sat up Gundogan for another spectacular goal.

This time, the German international volleyed De Bruyne’s searching free-kick from the edge of the box. De Gea’s effort to save the ball wasn’t enough, as it went into the bottom corner of the net.

The final 20 minutes of the game saw both sides finding a host of goalscoring opportunities. United came the closest to snatching their second equaliser 91st minute, but Varane’s header was deflected off the crossbar.

The 2-1 victory secures City’s second trophy of the campaign. Guardiola’s men are only one victory away from claiming a historic treble, preparing to take on Inter in the Champions League final.
