Puskas Arena was the place where Man City got a visit from Borussia Monchengladbach in the Champions League. We got player ratings.

Even though they recently lost their winning streak, Man City was still the favorite to eliminate Borussia Monchengladbach tonight. Puskas Arena was the place where we got to see more of Pep Guardiola’s dominant squad that seems like a top title contender. Alongside the likes of Bayern Munich, this season is ideal to think the Citizens actually have a shot. After their 0-2 away victory at Puskas Arena, they played on the same venue with an identical result by the final whistle.

It all happened during the first half as the Citizens scored two impressive goals from two of their midfielders. This hasn’t been an ideal season for the club’s strikers with several of them falling injured. But Pep Guardiola managed to reinvent some of these players and gave them a different approach. Kevin de Bruyne scored the opener from a long distance with a wild missile from out of the box.

Gundogan reaches an all-time milestone.

Before the break, Phil Foden commanded an impressive solo effort he finished with an exquisite assist to Ilkay Gundogan. The German midfielder showed us some more of that cold blood in front of the goalkeeper. Foden’s assist was also a no-look pass that left the Gladbach defenders totally confused.

After getting this comfortable 2-0 advantage, the Citizens were able to control the rest of the match with no further issues. With a 4-0 aggregate result against Gladbach, Manchester City easily get to the quarterfinal and await their rival in Friday’s dray. Pep Guardiola must be thrilled he got to this point with virtually no strikers in good form.
