The Citizens claimed their fourth trophy of the year by beating Sevilla.
Manchester City defeated Sevilla to win the UEFA Super Cup. Following a 1-1 draw, the Citizens edged out their opponents in the shootouts.
Palmer to rescue!
Man City dominated the possession early on but rarely managed to create serious chances. Sevilla, on the other hand, managed to open the scoring from their first shot on target.
Following a precise cross from Marcus Acuna, Youssef En-Nesyri flew above Josko Gvardiol to make it 1-0 with a powerful header.
City immediately started their efforts to get back into the game, but they had to wait until after the hour-mark to score the equalizer.
A week after scoring in the Community Shield match, Cole Palmer once again found the back of the net for City. This time, he converted a brilliant cross from Rodri in front of the goal to make it 1-1 for the Champions League winners.
City pushed hard to win the game before the 90th minute but had to face their Spanish rivals in the penalty shootouts.
Both sides converted their first four shots, but a missed penalty from Nemanja Gudelj cost Sevilla the trophy. Kyle Walker smashed the final spot-kick past Yassine Bono to win the Supercup for Pep Guardiola’s side.
