The Citizens complete a historic treble by claiming the UCL title in Istanbul.

Manchester City defeated Inter 1-0 in the Champions League final. A second-half strike from Rodri secured City’s third trophy of the season.

The new kings of Europe!

As expected, Man City started off by looking for an early breakthrough. But their attacks fizzled out after Bernardo Silva missed a goalscoring chance in the sixth minute.

Inter managed to find their feet in the game as the first half went on, gradually increasing the pressure on City’s backline. The Nerazzurri won most of the physical battles in the midfield, with Kevin De Bruyne leaving the pitch in the 36th minute with an injury.

De Bruyne’s injury didn’t stop City from pushing for the opener after the break. Phil Foden’s pace helped the Citizens increase their attacks down the left flank while Inter looked for counter-attacks.

Pep Guardiola’s side finally got what they were looking for in the 68th minute. A blocked cutback from Silva found Rodri at the perfect spot on the edge of the box.

The Spanish midfielder then smashed the ball into the right corner of the net with an unstoppable strike. Andre Onana didn’t dive to save the ball as City went ahead.

Inter immediately started their efforts to clinch an equalizer after Rodri’s goal. Romelu Lukaku missed a golden chance to make it 1-1, with Ederson saving another shot from the Belgian star a few minutes later.

Lukaku found a final chance to bring Inter into the game in the 88th minute. But yet another brilliant save from Ederson denied the Inter star.

The 1-0 victory secured City’s first-ever European trophy while completing the second treble in Guardiola’s career. The Citizens become the 23rd club to have won the Champions League/ European Cup.
