Right from MEWA Arena, we bring you the player ratings for this fresh Bundesliga encounter between Mainz 05 and Borussia Monchengladbach.

Tonight’s Bundesliga game brought us a tough battle between the German teams Mainz 05 and Borussia Monchengladbach. Both teams entered the arena with the backing of some good results in their previous fixtures.

The home side won their last three games across all competitions, recently beating Bielefeld by 2-1 on the enemy land. Whereas, the visitors had some confidence boost having thrashed Bayern Munich in DFB-Pokal in October.

Gladbach had some bad news at the beginning of the match, with Elvedi and Embolo getting replaced by Neuhaus and Thuram due to injuries. But the fresh legs proved to be of good fortune for the away side.

Substitute Florian Neuhaus scored the opener of the game as he buried a right-footed shot from the centre of the box. Mainz were comfortable until this point, but the goal changed the dynamics completely.

However, Gladbach could not enjoy the three points until the end as the local boys scored the equaliser. Neuhaus’ goal was cancelled out by Silvan Widmer in the 76th minute.

This game leaves Mainz in the fifth spot in Bundesliga whereas M’gladbach in the ninth.
