The former Man Utd captain is on the verge of leaving the club for West Ham.

Manchester United has reportedly handed Harry Maguire a significant £6 million pay-off as he prepares for his transfer to West Ham United.

In recent developments, Manchester United and West Ham United have informally agreed on the defender’s transfer, which is expected to be finalized soon.

According to the Sun, as part of the transfer deal, Maguire will accept a reduction in his weekly wage, moving from his current £190,000-a-week salary to £70,000-a-week.

In order to balance this wage adjustment, Manchester United has extended a compensation of around £6 million to the former captain.

The 30-year-old centre-back is poised to shift to David Moyes’ team in a deal valued at £30 million within the upcoming days.

After an unsteady 2022/23 season where he featured in merely eight Premier League matches, Maguire’s decision to seek new opportunities with West Ham is well-founded.

The move appears to benefit both parties involved. Manchester United can recoup part of their investment while paving the way for fresh signings, and Maguire can look forward to regular playtime with West Ham, potentially boosting his chances for inclusion in Euro 2024.

As Maguire departs, Manchester United is likely to explore options for a replacement, with suggestions that manager Erik ten Hag is urging the club to secure the services of Bayern’s Benjamin Pavard, who carries a price tag of around £26 million.
