Arsenal are looking to add Gabriel Magalhaes to their ranks, with the Brazilian hailed as the future of Gunners’ defensive ailments.
Mikel Arteta made the error-prone David Luiz play to the best of his capabilities. However, for his first complete year in charge of Arsenal, the Spanish tactician has added to his defensive ranks.
William Saliba is finally part of the roster after agreeing to join last year, while the services of Gabriel Magalhaes are also being secured.
Shkodran Mustafi seems to be on his way out as Arteta will blood his young defensive recruits.
Martin Keown is in awe of the changes made at the back and believes Magalhaes is the one for the future.
Keown reflected on Magalhaes’ performance against Chelsea in the Champions League and is eagerly waiting for the official word on his arrival.
“I sincerely hope so (he signs) he’s really strong, quick, left-footed player,” Keown was quoted by Metro. “I saw him play against Chelsea for Lille last season I went out to watch him.
“Magnificent player, I think he’s the future. He sees danger and he’s a leader. He’s strong, powerful, I sincerely hope this transfer does go through and he becomes an Arsenal player.
“That will really secure them at the back whether it’s going to be a four or a three I think this lad can play in either system.”
Arsenal have been transformed by Arteta after taking over in December. The club managed to end their trophy drought, winning the FA Cup after beating Chelsea in the final at Wembley.
