The French giants have welcomed back another familiar face for free.

Lyon have re-signed Corentin Tolisso on a free transfer from Bayern Munich.

The 27-year-old midfielder has rejoined the club on a five-year deal until June 2027 after his contract with Bundesliga champions Bayern ended on Thursday.

Tolisso returns to his native France following an injury-plagued five seasons in Munich, which restricted him to just 117 appearances.

“I am very happy to come back and join the new club project,” the World Cup winner told the club’s website.

“Lyon is my city. It’s where I grew up, where I feel good and I come back with great pleasure.”

Three former Lyon players return for free

Tolisso becomes the third former Lyon player to re-join the club on a free transfer this summer after striker Alexandre Lacazette from Arsenal and goalkeeper Remy Riou from SM Caen.

SM Caen midfielder Johann Lepenant, meanwhile, is the fourth new arrival at the Groupama Stadium. The 19-year-old cost a transfer fee of around €4.25 million.

Pape Cheikh, Jason Denayer, and Malcolm Barcola have all left the seven-time Ligue 1 champions as free agents, while Habib Keita has gone to Belgian side KV Kortrijk on loan.
