The Gunners snatched a hard-fought win to stay at the top of the Premier League table.
Arsenal defeated Luton Town 4-3 in their Premier League game on Tuesday. The newly promoted side put up a real fight but couldn’t prevent Arsenal’s victory.
What happened?
Arsenal dominated the possession early on but found little goalscoring chances until a defensive blunder allowed Bukayo Saka to set up Gabriel Martinelli’s for the opener in the 20th minute.
The hosts, however, found the equalizer through Gabriel Osho’s powerful header only five minutes later. The goal forced Arsenal to put more bodies forward to restore their lead.
The Gunners did so at the perfect time, as Gabriel Jesus put them ahead just before the 450-minute mark. The Brazil international converted Ben White’s fantastic cross to make it 2-1 for Arsenal.
However, the Gunners were surprised again when Luton found a second equalizer through Elijah Adebayo only four minutes into the second half. Arsenal pushed hard for a quick response, but all they got was Luton’s third goal.
The hosts came back from behind to take the lead when Ross Barkley’s shot found the back of the net after going right under David Raya’s body.
It took Arsenal only three minutes to respond to Barkley’s goal. The Gunners came back into the game after Kai Havertz made it 3-3 just before the hour mark.
The Gunners doubled down on their pressure to score the fourth goal in the final 30 minutes of the game. But they had to wait until the 97th minute to finally celebrate the match-winner. A perfect cross from Martin Odegaard was sent to the far corner of the net by Declan Rice, who flew above Luton’s defender to win the match for the Gunners.
