Luis Diaz scored a last-minute equalizer upon his return to Liverpool’s squad.
Liverpool drew 1-1 with Luton Town in their Premier League game on Sunday. The Reds managed to salvage a point after an underwhelming display against the newly-promoted side.
What happened?
Liverpool started the game on the front foot, with Darwin Nunez hitting the bar in the 13th minute. But the hosts also managed to find their feet in the game later on and create a few chances before the break.
The same trend continued at the beginning of the second period as Liverpool failed to establish dominance over the game. The Reds increased the pressure on Luton’s backline only to concede the opener in the 80th minute.
Following a swift counter-attack, Tahith Chong converted Issa Kabore’s precise cross to make it 1-0 for the hosts. For a few minutes, it seemed as if the hosts would be able to hold on to their lead.
But Liverpool managed to salvage a point through Luis Diaz’s equalizer in the 95th minute. The Colombian star, who returned to Liverpool’s squad just before the game, lifted up his shirt to show a message for his missing father after the goal.
