Foden narrowly missed a serious injury during City’s victory over Luton Town.

Gary Neville has criticized Luton Town’s Jacob Brown for his reckless tackle on Phil Foden.

Brown’s two-footed tackle was bad enough to ensure a VAR intervention. However, the 25-year-old avoided a red-card punishment as Foden continued the game without an injury.

The situation still triggered reactions on social media, with Neville writing in a tweet“I said this a few weeks ago. When a player jumps in like that the fact the opposing players leg isn’t broken doesn’t alter the fact every professional hates that challenge more than any other.

“The intent can only be there to significantly harm your opponent.”

Similar to their last week’s match against Arsenal, Luton shocked their opponents by getting ahead in the first half. However, City came back from behind to return to winning ways through Bernardo Silva and Jack Grealish’s goals after the break.

The Citizens remain fourth on the EPL table, four points behind league leaders Arsenal. Pep Guardiola’s men will take on Red Star Belgrade in a Champions League match on Wednesday before returning to the Premier League with a home game against Crystal Palace three days later.
