The Blues boss offers a fresh injury update on the attacking pair ahead of the upcoming Premier League clash at Stamford Bridge.
Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner will miss the next two games at least for Chelsea, Thomas Tuchel has confirmed.
Lukaku and Werner both picked up knocks during Chelsea’s win over Malmo in the Champions League. The Belgium striker damaged ligaments in his ankle while the German forward suffered a hamstring strain.
It remains to be seen how long the attacking pair will stay on the sidelines, but they will certainly be unavailable for Saturday’s Premier League game against Norwich and Tuesday’s Football League Cup clash with Southampton.
“There is no big news for Romelu and Timo,” Tuchel told the press (via the club’s official website).
“They are out for tomorrow and they are out for the Southampton game, and from there we see what’s next.
“I don’t think it makes sense to go into speculation about how long this is going to be. You never know. Things can be shorter or longer than expected.
“The one thing I can tell you for sure is they are both in treatment. Both are feeling positive, not too worried, and are out for the next two games for sure.”
