Despite another win on home turf, Romelu Lukaku says Inter are aiming to get even better as they push for the Serie A title.
Lukaku was the highlight of the day as Inter claimed a 3-0 win over Genoa on Sunday afternoon.
The Belgian forward gave the Nerazzurri a dream start by opening the scoring just after 30 seconds.
Lukaku then set up the second for Darmian in the second half before Alexis Sanchez came off the bench to make it three in less than a minute on the pitch. Once again, Lukaku was involved in the third goal.
The win took Inter to five successive league wins and nine consecutive home victories in Serie A.
More importantly, the win took Inter to seven points clear at the top of the league standings.
Inter are the most in-form Serie A side at the moment but Lukaku says there is room for improvement still.
“We are improving, we are on top of the table, it’s a nice feeling, but we must continue,” he told Sky Sport Italia.
“We faced some defeats in these kind games last season and we want to improve. I am really happy with the victory. Now we must focus on Parma, it’s not going to be an easy game,” he continued.
“We want to show our opponents that we are here. We must focus on one game at a time. It was an important match after two back-to-back victories.”
“We scored three goals and kept a clean sheet, perfect.”
“I always want to improve, just like many other players: Barella, Bastoni, Skriniar, De Vrij. We are young and we have room for improvement. We want to win these games, it’s a good feeling.”
Another goal for Lukaku took him to 18 Serie A goals for the season, just one behind Cristiano Ronaldo.
However, the 27-year-old says he is not thinking about the Capocannoniere at the moment.
“I always think about winning. I am in a good moment of my career, but Inter are the only thing that matter.”
