The Blues boss discusses the availability of three of his key players for Saturday’s Premier League game.

Romelu Lukaku is fit to feature for Chelsea against Aston Villa but N’Golo Kante and Christian Pulisic are both ruled out of the match, Thomas Tuchel has confirmed.

Lukaku sustained a minor thigh injury while away on international duty. The Belgium international was passed fit after a scan and he subsequently resumed training with his club teammates.

Kante, meanwhile, had to sit out the London derby against Arsenal last month as well as France’s fixtures over the international break due to an ankle problem he had picked up earlier in the season.

Pulisic missed Chelsea’s previous two outings after being diagnosed with COVID-19 and is now expected to miss the club’s next three games, having damaged his ankle in the USA’s 4-1 win over Honduras on Thursday.

“N’Golo got injured in the Liverpool game and still suffers a little bit. We are trying with N’Golo for Tuesday. This looks pretty good,” Tuchel said during his pre-match press conference ahead of Saturday’s Premier League meeting with Aston Villa.

“For Christian unfortunately he came yesterday on crutches. He has an ankle injury [that will rule him out] for about 10 days.

Tuchel added on Lukaku: “Maybe he had some problems but he came back two days ago, he trained yesterday and today full, no problems at all.”
