The 2018 Ballon d’Or winner has penned fresh terms for another campaign at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Luka Modric has signed a new one-year contract extension at Real Madrid until June 2023.

While the 36-year-old midfielder’s previous deal was up at the end of the month, he never planned to leave and recently clarified that he hoped to finish his career at the Spanish capital.

Now, almost two weeks after winning a fifth Champions League title with the club, Modric has committed himself to a new 12-month contract.

What is Modric’s record at Real Madrid?

In 436 appearances across all competitions, Modric has supplied 31 goals and 73 assists since joining Real Madrid in a €40 million transfer from Tottenham in the summer of 2012.

The Croatia international has won 20 trophies with the Spanish club, including three La Liga titles and five Champions League crowns.

Despite his advancing years, Modric remains a key part of the squad at 36. He played 45 times in all competitions last season and played every single minute of Real Madrid’s 1-0 win over Liverpool in the Champions League final last month.
