The former Barcelona star is available as a free agent in the winter transfer window.

Luis Suarez has reportedly decided to join Gremio despite receiving an offer from a Saudi Arabian side.

Following his departure from Atletico Madrid, Suarez returned to his childhood club Nacional in the summer.

The 35-year-old kept himself fit for the World Cup but decided to leave just before the tournament.

Several clubs have shown interest in signing Suarez as a free agent. However, it seems Gremio has finalized a deal to bring the former Barca star to Brazil.

Al Khaleej were reportedly keen to move Suarez to the Saudi Pro League on an 18-month deal worth $6m. However, the Uruguay international has decided to continue his career in South America.

Suarez’s salary at Gremio is still unclear. But widespread reports in Brazilian media claim the club are planning to make him their highest-paid player.

The expereinced striker will reunite with his old Liverpool teammate Lucas Leiva at Gremio. After leaving Lazio, Leiva returned to his boyhood club six months ago.

Following their promotion to Serie A, Gremio hope to re-establish their place among the elite Brazilian sides by adding Suarez to their squad.
