The French star’s fitness struggles have cast doubt over his future at Allianz Arena.

Lucas Hernandez is reportedly “in good talks” with Bayern Munich to extend his contract despite interest from Paris Saint-Germain.

Following an underwhelming season under Christophe Galtier, PSG are preparing for a busy transfer window this summer. Rebuilding the team’s backline is a priority, with Hernandez reappearing on the French giants’ radar.

Earlier this week, L’Equipe reported that Hernandez had reached an agreement on personal terms with PSG. However, the German outlets tell a different story.

According to Bild, Bayern are in advanced talks with Hernandez’s camp to renew his current contract. The German newspaper claims the announcement of the defender’s new deal is “only a matter of time”.

Hernandez has dealt with a number of long-term injury setbacks since joining Bayern from Atletico Madrid in 2019. However, his incredible versatility and physical presence have so far convinced Bayern to keep him at the club.

A knee injury during the World Cup brought Hernandez’s season to an abrupt end. The 22-year-old has returned to Bayern’s training ground in recent days but won’t be able to play for the club before the next season.

Bayern will go into their last game of the campaign against Koln on Saturday. The Bavarians sit two points behind Borussia Dortmund, who take on Mainz on the same day.
