The Bavarians have seen a new midfield talent come through their academy ranks.
Bayern Munich legend Lothar Matthaus has praised Jamal Musiala, saying his ‘movements’ are similar to those of a young Lionel Messi.
The 19-year-old has taken Bundesliga by storm this season, scoring three goals in his two appearances for the Bavarians.
The German star quickly found his place in Bayern’s senior team after a move from Chelsea‘s academy.
Despite stiff competition in Bayern’s attacking line, Musiala has managed to establish his place as a regular starter at Allianz Arena.
“I wish him the world footballer’s title, but he is still in a certain development,” Matthaus told a press conference.
“He reminds me of Lionel Messi with his joy, his movements, his dribbling. I trust him if the development.
“Keep going like this and to win big things as part of a successful team. He has the potential to be able to count on a Ballon d’Or and the world football title. Musiala is down to earth. He always wants to improve. This ambition drives him. If he keeps that up, he can succeed Robert Lewandowski.”
Musiala is considered among the top favourites to win this year’s Kopa trophy.
The Germany international has a chance to improve his impressive goal tally when Bayern meet Union Berlin next week.
