Julen Lopetegui cannot help himself but applaud Bayern Munich for their incredible achievements during the past season.

Bayern Munich won the Champions League in 2019/20, but the more impressive part of their success, rather than what they achieved, was how they achieved it.

The Bavarian giants ended the entire campaign without suffering a single defeat – the only team to have done so in the history of the Champions League.

Additionally, they scored 43 goals in total, averaging a staggering almost four goals every game, and avoided conceding in six of the 11 matches.

Furthermore, Hansi Flick’s men, having also won Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal, also joined FC Barcelona as the only team to have ever won a continental treble twice.

Bayern will aim to add another trophy to their lustrous trophy cabinet when they take on Sevilla in the UEFA Super Cup final.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, head coach Julen Lopetegui only has words of admiration for Sevilla’s upcoming opponents.

“A team like this has not appeared in Europe for many years,” said Lopetegui, according to Goal.

“Bayern have a coach who deserves a lot of credit for the way he has led the team and has given a strong identity.

“It is very difficult to do what he has done because they know exactly how they want to play, how they want to attack, where they are going to defend. Playing against this team has to motivate us and make us grow.”
