The Reds will lock horns with Real Madrid in a replay of the last season’s UCL final.
Jurgen Klopp and Carlo Ancelotti have expressed their excitement over Liverpool and Real Madrid’s upcoming clash in the Champions League.
The Reds will face Real Madrid in the last 16 round, hoping to take revenge for their defeat in the last season’s final.
Unlike that game, however, Liverpool will have a chance to meet their opponents at Anfield. Klopp believes the home stadium could be a decisive factor in the match.
“The first thing that we can say about this draw is it is proper Champions League,” Klopp said. “This is a tie that speaks for itself and one that we should all be excited about.
“Real’s European record is the best around. We know this. But we also know that ours is not too bad. On top of this, we know that we have Anfield, and everyone knows what this means.”
Real Madrid qualified as the Group F leader,s while Liverpool had to settle for a second spot behind Napoli.
Speaking after the draw, Carlo Ancelotti said: “They will say the same thing [about the draw] – Real Madrid again. It’s going to be an entertaining round of 16, with a great atmosphere at Anfield, it’s going to be a spectacular tie.”
