The Reds striker has returned in time to play against Real Madrid.

Liverpool will host Real Madrid in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie.

Having won their last two league games with similar 2-0 results, Jurgen Klopp’s men will look to continue their run against Real Madrid.

The German manager has made no changes to the lineup that defeated Newcastle last weekend. Despite suffering a shoulder injury, Darwin Nunez has returned in time to start against the Blancos.

The Uruguayan star forms Liverpool’s attacking line alongside Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah.

Liverpool XI: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson; Bajčetić, Fabinho, Henderson; Salah, Núñez, Gakpo.

Real Madrid XI: Courtois, Carvajal, Militão, Rüdiger, Alaba, Valverde, Camavinga, Modrić, Rodrygo, Benzema, Viní Jr.

Real Madrid start the game with two changes compared to the lineup that defeated Osasuna 2-0 on Saturday.

Karim Benzema has returned to Real Madrid’s starting XI as Dani Ceballos starts on the bench. In the Blancos’ backline, Carlo Ancelotti has preferred to start Dani Carvajal ahead of Nacho Fernandez down the right-hand side.

Real Madrid will look to build on their consistent form since playing in the Club World Cup tournament. On the other hand, Liverpool are desperate to keep their trophy hopes alive by eliminating the Blancos from the elite tournament.
