The titleholders have looked unlike themselves in the last few matches and will be determined to get back to winning ways on Thursday.

Liverpool return to Premier League action and play host to Burnley in game week 19 on Thursday.

The Reds are in desperate need of a win having fallen much behind in their quest for back-to-back Premier League title wins, allowing the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City, and even Leicester City to rise above themselves in the standings.

Up against them are a team dangerously close to the drop zone, with Burnley sitting just a place and four points above a relegation spot.

Liverpool vs Burnley Form:

Jurgen Klopp’s men were held to a scoreless draw against rivals Manchester United in the previous fixture. It marked the fourth successive league match that they failed to win.

Another issue that the Reds are facing is that the goals have dried up. Ever since the 7-0 thrashing of Crystal Palace, they have found the net just once in four Premier League games.

Three points on Thursday evening would not help Liverpool rise above in the league table but they cannot afford anything less with Tottenham, Everton, and West Ham breathing down their necks.

A win is a must for Burnley as well – only for very different reasons.

Sean Dyche’s side suffered back-to-back 1-0 defeats and now sit at 17th in the standings, though they have at least a game in hand over the other relegation-threatened teams.

Liverpool vs Burnley Head-to-head:

The Clarets can take pride in the fact that they were one of the very few teams able to snatch points from the Reds in their title-winning season.

The Premier League champions, however, have a clear advantage in the head-to-head record, having won in nine of the last 12 meetings.

Liverpool vs Burnley Team News:

Liverpool have a lengthy injury list with Diogo Jota, Virgil van Dijk,  Joe Gomez, Naby Keita, Kostas Tsimikas all on the sidelines. Joel Matip, however, is now available for selection.

Bailey Peacock-Farrell is a doubt for Burnley and so are Jimmy Dunne and Charlie Taylor.
