The Uruguayan striker scored on his Premier League debut last weekend for the Reds.

Darwin Nunez has impressed and gives Liverpool have a ‘fantastic mix’ in the attack, according to James Milner.

The 22-year-old joined the Reds from Benfica this summer for an initial fee of €75 million, along with a potential €25 million in add-ons. He repaid the club by scoring on his Premier League debut at Fulham last weekend. The game ended 2-2, but it still marked a promising start for the player all the same.

Nunez also found the back of the net in the 3-1 Community Shield victory over Manchester City on July 30.

“I think he’ll have an impact the whole time he’s here, to be honest,” Milner told the club’s website.

“Since he’s been here, he’s been impressive on the field, worked hard, makes great runs, and is desperate to put his head on the ball in the box. If you put a ball in there, he’ll do everything he can to get on the end of it – good finisher, both feet and he’s different to the other boys up there.”

Liverpool’s new star attack

Nunez joins Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino, Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz, and fellow new signing Fabio Carvalho in the Reds attack for this season.

“We’ve already got some very exciting attacking players who can cause problems, so he’s a great addition. He’ll be fantastic for us,” Milner added.

“You want options up there, you want to cause people problems, and you want to have options to play different ways because obviously teams are going to watch us and try to stop us, so it’s important we can do everything.

“With the options we have up there, I think we have a fantastic mix.”

Liverpool return to action on Monday at home to Crystal Palace for their next Premier League match.
