Ben White’s ex-manager Michael Flynn has called Liverpool to beat stiff competition to the sought-after defender’s signature.
White has earned high acclaims from several top Premier League clubs for his blistering showings in Leeds United’s promotion-winning Championship campaign in 2019/20.
Remarkably, the 22-year-old featured for the Marcelo Bielsa’s side in every single minute of second-tier action the last term.
However, he is set to return to Brighton following an outstanding loan spell at Elland Road only to move on in the coming months.
There’s growing interest from many English clubs, and there’s a genuine feeling the youngster will take the next step in his career.
White’s former boss Flynn reckons White could be a major hit at Anfield, inviting Jurgen Klopp to accelerate his interest in the highly-rated centre-back.
“I’d love to see him at Liverpool. I know Pep Lijnders, the assistant, he’s an unbelievable coach,” he told talkSPORT.
“So I know he will help Ben improve. He’s got to do what’s best for Ben White. That could be getting a season in the Premier League with regular games at Brighton, which I think he could do.
“[Brighton boss] Graham Potter might want to keep him and bring him on and then sell him for more money after a year in the Premier League.
“That’s a decision for Ben, but for biased reasons, I’d be edging him towards Liverpool.”
Flynn was the one to introduce White into senior football at Newport County back in 2017/18 and now backs him to shine in the Premier League.
Klopp is interested in acquiring the defender’s services after parting ways with Dejan Lovren.
It remains uncertain how much Brighton will ask for to let their jewel go, but Liverpool are surely among the clubs able to afford such a deal.
