The Uruguayan striker is slowly regaining his best form at Liverpool.
Kostas Tsimikas has backed Darwin Nunez to continue his ‘important’ role at Liverpool by regaining his confidence.
Nunez found a rocky start to his Liverpool career after joining the Reds from Benfica this summer.
However, the Uruguayan has slowly reclaimed his spot in Liverpool’s lineup in their recent games. A 1-0 win over West Ham saw Nunez score his third Premier League goal for the Reds.
Tsimikas, who provided the assist for Nunez’s match-winner, says his teammate is on his way to becoming a crucial player for Liverpool.
“He’s always there,” Tsimikas told Liverpool’s official website. “He can score with the left, with the right, with the head – he’s a goal machine.
“He needs confidence, [which] is coming, and I hope for him all the best [to] score more and more goals to help the team, to give us more wins. For us, he is a very, very important player.”
Asked about Nunez’s goal against West Ham, he added: “It’s a very good moment for me. Especially because it was a cross for Darwin, because I wanted to assist him.
“I’m very, very happy for him because I know he wanted to score also. Obviously he would [want] to score more goals but hopefully he keeps his energy and his goals for the next games.”
