Liverpool have already rejected a giant bid from Saudi Arabia.
A £200m bid would be enough to convince Liverpool to sell Mohamed Salah, according to Paul Merson.
Salah, who signed a new contract at Anfield until 2025 last year, is subject to concrete interest from Al Ittihad. The Saudi Pro League club’s initial bid for the striker was reportedly around £150m, which was quickly rejected by the Reds.
However, Merson believes Liverpool could consider selling Salah if a higher bid is submitted.
Speaking to Sky Sports, the former Arsenal star said: “I don’t see how you can [not accept] £200million for a 31-year-old.
“If they don’t win the league this year, he is 32 next year, and it soon starts going 32, 33 and the goals will start drifting. £200m would be irresistible. If Salah goes, you’re talking about not even being in the top four race.”
In recent hours, reports have emerged of Al Ittihad’s interest in submitting a new bid for Salah. A report from the Sky Sports claims the Saudi Arabian side are willing to pay £200m for the Egypt international.
Let’s see if Merson has accurately predicted one of the most shocking moves of the summer transfer window.
