Will the Reds miss out on another one of their midfield targets?
Manchester City are reportedly considering a move for Matheus Nunes, who is also a top target for Liverpool.
The Reds have spent a frustrating transfer window so far, missing out on moves for Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia. Signing a new midfielder is Liverpool’s clear objective. But that could be more difficult than expected.
According to the Athletic, Wolves midfielder Nunes is among City’s targets this summer. The Citizens reportedly hope to sign the midfielder before the transfer window’s deadline.
After closing a deal for Jeremy Docu, City are keen to find a replacement for Ilkay Gundogan. The German star’s move to Barcelona has left a gap in the midfield, which has turned into a selection dilemma since Kevin De Bruyne’s injury.
A report from Alex Crook claims that Wolves are yet to receive a formal offer for Nunes. The talkSPORT journalist believes the club would want around £60m for the midfielder. However, their demand could go higher if a bidding war is sparked between Liverpool and Man City.
Nunes joined Wolves on a £42m bid from Sporting Lisbon last summer. During the 2023-24 campaign, he made 41 appearances for the club, quickly establishing himself as one of the Premier League’s most exciting midfielders.
