The Reds have found a slow start to the new season in the absence of some of their key players.
Jurgen Klopp has revealed Diogo Jota will be back in Liverpool’s training by Thursday.
Jota has been out of action since picking up a thigh injury during Liverpool’s pre-season tour.
The Reds bounced back from their defeat against Manchester United by crushing Bournemouth 9-0 last weekend.
However, their problems in midfield are still hard to ignore as Thiago stays on the sidelines. Klopp hopes the Spaniard will return to his squad soon after Jota.
“[Diogo] Jota can train from Thursday, Thiago slightly later,” Klopp told reporters ahead of Liverpool’s upcoming game against Newcastle.
“[Calvin] Ramsay is closer, [Caoimhin] Kelleher is walking outside for goalkeeper training.”
New signings this summer?
The return of injured players will increase Liverpool’s squad depth. However, Klopp doesn’t rule out the possibility of more signings before the transfer window deadline.
Asked whether his side will stay active in the transfer market, Klopp replied: “Yes. Ish. We are not out – but it’s really difficult because for sure there are few a players out there who would be the right ones, but there are issues.
“There’s still time but when it’s over, whether someone signs or not, I am really happy as it’s over and we can just focus on the squad we have. Face the situations we have together. Our fans are active on social media so they can stop doing that. We have a good football team.
“I couldn’t [give you a name]. It’s difficult because for sure there a few who are right but there are different issues, at clubs who don’t want to sell, that’s how it is.”
