Thiago Alcantara is set to play for Liverpool after recovering from a calf injury.

Thiago Alcantara can make his first Liverpool appearance in two months in their match against Atletico Madrid.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp confirmed the Spaniard has completed a training session before the game.

“Fabinho and Thiago trained completely normally and are in contention, which is good obviously.” the German boss said ahead of the Champions League game.

“It’s very helpful and so we will see.”

Naby Keita suffered a hamstring injury during Liverpool’s 5-0 win over Manchester United last week.

Apart from Keita, James Milner is the only notable Reds player who misses the Atletico game.

Naby has a hamstring injury so will be out for a while.

“Apart from that, Millie it’s clear [he won’t be involved] and the others who are out long term will be out as well. Injuries [in this] period of the season are completely normal, as long as they are not too harsh we have to accept that.

“The players will be back, hopefully soon, and then they are in contention again as well. But for tomorrow only the fit players, obviously.

After the Atletico game, Liverpool will continue their Premier League campaign with a match against West Ham on Sunday.
