The National Elephants called up Naby Keita despite his injury.

Liverpool midfielder Naby Keita picked up an injury during their spectacular 5-0 thrashing of Manchester United earlier this month.

The 26-year-old, who is currently recovering from the injury, was surprisingly named in the Guinea squad for their upcoming games.

However, according to Guinean outlet Foot224, Keita has not travelled to Guinea. The player is reportedly planning to stay at Liverpool during the current international break.

Since his move from RB Leipzig in 2018, Keita has constantly struggled for fitness at Liverpool. The player was slowly regaining his best form during the current campaign, but another unfortunate injury has disrupted his rythm.

When will Keita join Guinea?

Liverpool officials are yet to provide an exact date for Ketia’s recovery. However, several sources have suggested the recovery will take about two weeks.

Guinea will play against Guinea-Bissau and Morocco in their upcoming World Cup qualifiers. Keita is planning to join the national team for their African Cup of Nations campaign, which starts in January.
