Premier League champions Liverpool will possibly make more cash from a pre-signed deal with Barcelona over a player transfer.

Liverpool will potentially earn more money from the contract with FC Barcelona for Philippe Coutinho. The Brazil international left the English club to join Barca back in 2018.

Initially, the Catalan side paid an amount of £106 million. Though, there was a potential for another £36 million in add-ons for the Reds. This would be possible if specific conditions were to be fulfilled by Barcelona.

How much more will Liverpool earn?

Liverpool received the majority of the extra money from the deal. Although, a total of £4.4 million is yet to be transferred. But, it will depend on whether Coutinho will play a certain number of appearances for Barcelona.

According to the Daily Mirror, Coutinho still needs 14 more appearances to initiate the final clause. This was right after Barca’s victory over Villareal.

The 28-year old’s future at the club seemed off track under the previous manager Quique Setien. Now, the Brazilian returned from a loan from the Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich.

The Bavarian giants did not want to make a permanent move for Coutinho. Also, his agent Kia Joorabchian was aware of the midfielder’s future away from Camp Nou.

Speaking in July, Joorabchian told talkSPORT: “It’s no secret he wants to come back to the Premier League.

“It’s still very much open. There is a lot of genuine interest.”

Nevertheless, Barca hired a new coach at the start of the season. And now, Coutinho’s future at the club looks more open.

He played a vital number ten role against Villareal. Evidently, Coutinho was part of a strong attacking force of Lionel Messi, Antoine Griezmann, and Ansu Fati. He assisted Fati’s second goal.

Furthermore, Joorabchian confirmed that Koeman views Coutinho as a crucial part of his plans. He claimed that he had a talk with the Dutch boss after the Champions League win for Bayern.

“Coutinho to stay at Barça? Yes,” he told talkSPORT earlier this month. “Koeman called him right after the Champions League victory with Bayern and told him he’s very much in his plans and would like him to return.”
