The ex-Reds attacker John Aldridge believes that Liverpool’s new signing will do wonders at Anfield and join the history books.

Former Liverpool striker John Aldridge admits that new signing Thiago Alcantara is a creative midfielder. Also, he says that the Spaniard belongs with the club legends, Steven Gerrard and Xabi Alonso.

However, Liverpool supporters did not get to watch Thiago as much following his transfer from Bayern Munich.

Though, the Spanish playmaker came off the bench during the Chelsea clash to guide the Reds to victory.

Unfortunately, Thiago tested positive for the coronavirus and could not play Liverpool fixtures.

In addition, the 29-year-old returned to the field in the Merseyside derby vs Everton. Although, Brazilian striker Richarlison knocked Thiago out with a reckless tackle to receive a straight dismissal.

Furthermore, due to the injury woes, the midfielder did not see any action in the Champions League win over Ajax.

Moreover, Liverpool is not sure whether the Spain international will come back against Sheffield United.

Additionally, Jurgen Klopp will require Thiago’s abilities in the center of the pitch at Anfield in the Premier League.

Written in the stars.

Aldridge is however confident that the new signing will perform wonders at the club.

He told Liverpool Echo: “At least it looks like Thiago is going to be okay [against the Blades] after that disgusting tackle from Richarlison and what a performance he put in at Goodison.

“He’s had his injury problems in the past and the manager is going to have to nurse him through at times but I would say just sit back and enjoy this player.

“He is a joy to watch, an artist on the ball.

“I’ve seen great passers in a red shirt – Xabi Alonso, Steven Gerrard, going back to Jan Molby who I played alongside, and this lad is right up there, you just want to see him getting on the ball all the time.

“He is a glorious, lovely footballer to watch and I think Liverpool fans are going to get a lot of enjoyment from him.”

Evidently, Liverpool went through a lot of trouble to purchase Thiago. His last game with the Bavarian giants was in the Champions League final against PSG.

Bayern won a historic treble without losing a single game in the entire season.
