Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane will spearhead their national teams’ efforts in the battle to secure a World Cup spot.

Confederation of African Football announced the draws for the final stage of the continent’s World Cup qualifiers on Saturday. Ten teams have discovered their last opponents on their way to secure a World Cup spot.

The standout draw of the third round will see Liverpool stars Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane face off in a two-legged tie. This means only one of the two Liverpool forwards will play in the next summer’s competition.

The draw took place in Douala, Cameroon, where the Africa Cup of Nations is currently taking place. Both Egypt and Senegal have made it to the last-16 round of the tournament. Mane and co face Cape Verde on Tuesday, with Salah leading the Pharaohs against Ivory Coast a day later.

Both players played for their national teams in the 2018 World Cup in Russia. Salah came back from his famous injury in the Champions League final. However, despite not being fully fit displayed decent performances.

Just like Egypt, Senegal also suffered early elimination. Mane scored in his side’s 2-2 draw against Japan, but it was not enough to save the Lions from a bizarre elimination. It was the first time ever that a team were knocked out due to their inferior disciplinary record.

Here is the full list of fixtures in the third round of CAF’s World Cup Qualifiers:

  • Egypt vs Senegal
  • Cameroon vs Algeria
  • Ghana vs Nigeria
  • DR Congo vs Morocco
  • Mali vs Tunisia
