The Reds have made sure to be at the top of the table on Christmas for a third successive year and they now aim to evade outside interference.

Liverpool rose to the summit of the Premier League table following a 7-0 annihilation of Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Jurgen Klopp’s men have established a four-point lead over second-placed Leicester City, meaning they are set to celebrate a third consecutive Christmas as league leaders.

A significant drop in standard has been noticed at times in this season from the Reds.

Many believe there exists a motivation issue in the team that won the Champions League, Club World Cup, and the league title by a massive 18-point margin in the previous seasons.

Alisson Becker, however, insists Liverpool carry the same relentless mindset and have focus only on themselves.

Alisson told the club’s official website: “It’s good, you put pressure on the opponents, the other teams who are there fighting for first place.

“But we are only thinking about ourselves, thinking about what we can do on the pitch. So, when you get three points with a great performance you will be happy.

“We have one week to rest now, to prepare the next game and the next challenge, and to enjoy a little bit Christmas with the family.

“I wish a merry Christmas for all the supporters, may God bless you. Enjoy it with the family safely, in a safe way. Merry Christmas – this is our gift for you!”
