The Uruguayan striker is ready to start again after an underwhelming debut campaign.
Liverpool officially announced Darwin Nunez as their new No.9 ahead of the 2023-24 season.
Nunez arrived at Liverpool on a club-record fee of £85m last summer. The Uruguay international showed flashes of brilliance throughout the season but his performances were influenced by Liverpool’s struggle for consistency.
The Reds hope to see a better version of Nunez next season as he is now their new No.9.
“I’m really happy to wear number nine. And I’m very proud too.” Nunez told Liverpool’s official website.
“Honestly, previously other players represented this number really well and now it’s my turn to wear it. And I hope that everything goes well.
“I hope I’m able to represent it the best way just as the previous players did. And hopefully this is for many years and that it brings a lot of joy too.”
Nunez, who wore the No.27 last season, registered 15 goals and four assists in his 42 appearances across all competitions. The former Benfica star will travel with Liverpool as they start their pre-season camp in Germany next week.
The Reds will take on Karlsruher on Wednesday before taking on Greuter Furth five days later.
